LAFD FIREFIGHTER'S AND HOLLYWOOD ACTOR ACCUSED OF ASSAULT;

Three Los Angeles firefighter's beat 22 year old grad student to death; According to reports made to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, firefighter and childhood film star Michael Vitar who played the role of Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez in the film "The Sandlot", along with fellow firefighter's Eric Carpenter and Thomas Molnar, are now being charged with assault, according to a felony complaint filed with the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office;

According to TMZ Online, Two of Vitar's friends, both of whom are firefighters, spotted Samuel Chang passing out candy in the street of his gated L.A. community. The firefighters suspected Chang was passing out tainted candy and confronted him. In the documents released to TMZ, The document claims the two firefighters began beating on Chang, restraining him with a chokehold. The legal document claims Vitar -- now a firefighter as well -- joined in, mid beating.
The warrant also says the beating was so bad Chang's pulse stopped and the firefighters had to get their gear and revive Chang, According to records Chang was taken to the hospital with horrific injuries, including burst blood vessels in the eye, bleeding on the brain, kidney failure and hemorrhaging due to suffocation.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office the case has been assigned to The Robbery/Homicide Division of Los Angeles County Police Department; According to sources all sides have been fully cooperating with law enforcement officials and an investigation is still ongoing.
We reached out to Attorney Arthur Avazian, who represents Molnar, Avazian stated that he was still reviewing the case as well as stated his client and the firefighters tried to restrain a man who would not leave and was trespassing.
"They believed he posed a danger to children in the area by trying to pass out candy against the consent of the adults," Avazian said. "These are really good people, two firefighters and my client who is successful businessman," Avazian said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said that both firefighters, who were off-duty at the time, have been placed on administrative leave with pay as the criminal case proceeds.
