WINTER STORM FORCES AMERICAN AIRLINES TO CANCEL HUNDREDS OF FLIGHTS

American Airlines has just announced they will be cancelling over 100 flights up and down the entire east coast due to the winter that is expected to hit the east coast this weekend. The airline company has updated their policy in which will allow their customers that are impacted by the cancellation to rebook without any penalty. The airline company has stated they will provide their customers who have been impacted by the cancellation with email notification which will inform the customer of the waiver along with further communication if their flight will be cancelled and/or impacted by the winter storm, stated in an online press release

When Sixth Gate Contacted The Airline they stated that “our airline company will be working to ensure that none of our aircrafts are not kept overnight or stored at an hub/facility in which will be impacted by this weekend’s winter storm however do to the extreme weather and for the safety of our companies employees and customers will be actively monitoring the storm and will cancel all flights that are destined and/or traveling through the path this weekend’s winter storm, said American Airlines Spokesperson.

The airline has provided the following information in which is currently available however as the storm approached they want to allow everyone to know travel plans may be cancelled.

Here is the latest information on the current plans for American’s impacted hubs:

Charlotte NC Hub: All flights canceled on Friday. Operations are expected to resume on Saturday morning.

DCA/IAD/BWI: Reduced operations Friday afternoon at all three airports. All flights canceled on Saturday. Operations resume around noon Sunday.

Philadelphia: All flights will be cancelled Saturday, operations are expected to resume Sunday morning.

LGA/JFK/EWR: All American Eagle operations will be cancelled Saturday. For jet service, American plans to cancel the operation after the late morning departures for the remainder of Saturday and will resume operations Sunday at all three New York-area airports.

Customers whose flights are cancelled can request a refund or reschedule their travel on www.aa.com by retrieving their reservation. Customers may also contact American Airlines reservations at +1-800-433-7300 in the U.S. or Canada.
